Last night we visited Plantations restaurant in Aumuller Street Cairns.
Two out of the six guests are coeliac. There are Gluten Free items and GF options on the menu.
My fellow coeliac ordered Calamari (fried) for starters which she described as some tasted good and some not so good.
For the main course I ordered the slow cooked spit meat of the day – roast pork with apple sauce. We discussed with the staff as to whether the baked potatoes were GF and they were. The gravy wasn’t an option as it wasn’t GF. I would have liked the pork cooked a little more but that is my individual taste. Presentation was good and overall the meal was tasty.
We could also have ordered the GF pizza and all toppings were available.
There were two GF choices for dessert. I ordered the individual cheesecake with fresh cream and optional GF vanilla ice cream. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious. The second choice was individual pavlova with cream and marinated fruit.
All the staff we encountered when ordering were extremely helpful and took the time to check with the chefs if an item was GF.
The restaurant was quite noisy all night, however the upside was the table staff were all helpful, pleasant and happy.
